2023 has been an exciting year for the AGI Northern Ireland. We held our annual conference, GI and Spatial for the Future – Here and Now, at Belfast City Hall on the 28 June. Our first in-person event in three years, it was our most popular conference to date with nearly 180 delegates representing the public sector, private sector and academia from across the island of Ireland and beyond.
The conference centred on the use of innovative and advanced geospatial technologies and methodologies to realise benefits to organisations and society in the here and now. A fantastic range of speakers presented on key topics including land registration, property transactions and analyses, geospatial data integration and national statistics, remote sensing, surveying technologies and their applications, and the use of geospatial data in the health sector. So there was truly something for everyone!
There was ample opportunity for networking amongst delegates and with our great range of exhibitors from the geospatial industry. We are very grateful to our sponsors who helped make the event such a great success and shared insights in the field of geospatial information and allied technologies.
We also want to thank our student helpers from Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Ulster who worked behind the scenes to help the day run smoothly.
AGI Northern Ireland is already planning our next annual conference which will take place in Belfast in June 2024. We will be releasing further information in the New Year, as well as issuing a call for papers so stay tuned for further updates.
