AGI Cymru Update Reflecting on 2024 and Looking ahead to 2025

Leadership Changes in 2024:
· Phil Barlow and Dave Roberts were welcomed as co-chairs for AGI Cymru at the start of 2024.
· Welcome to new board members: Dan Kirkwood, Charlotte Leigh, Ioan Evans and Jon Dollery who joined the AGI Cymru team this year.

2024 Conference
The group hosted the annual GeoCymru conference which was held in October in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, looking at how new and emerging technology plays an important role for members in their working and day to day lives. These included the use of drones to monitor the impact of public use of Historical Monuments and nature conservation and recovery, how digital twins can support government policy making and the use of AI to determine the location of “lost” or cleared woodland.

We also had presentations on deep learning and automated data processing demonstrating techniques and technology that play an important role in the future of geospatial activity in Wales.

Thanks to everyone that joined us in Cardiff for the event and our 5 sponsors for your continued contribution to geospatial in Wales.

Looking Ahead to 2025
We’re delighted to share with you our plans and what to expect in 2025:
· AGI Geocymru 2025 and Geodrinks networking in October
· More Networking Events and get togethers across Wales

Best Wishes

AGI Cymru Steering Group
