AGI Greater Manchester Network Event – ‘Future of 3D in Geospatial’

We were delighted to launch the first AGI Greater Manchester Network Event on the 26 March where we discussed the ‘Future of 3D in Geospatial’.

Kindly hosted by Jacobs we heard from Vida Williams, Capacity Lead for Jacobs, and AGI Director about the 3D visualisation of wind farms that Jacobs has been developing, helping to facilitate planning of these in local communities.
We welcomed Mick Dunn, Business Development Specialist GIS at Nottingham City Council who walked us through the development of the 3D Urban Digital Twin for Nottingham and how this is currently getting used to aid pre-planning applications and Will Robertshaw, Geospatial Engineer at Ramboll and AGI Early Career Professional Award winner for 2024 who presented the GeoBIM-powered engineering design created for the next-gen football stand at Wrexham AFC.
Finally, we heard from Michael Power and Annie Ankers at Informed Solutions who presented the work currently ongoing on the National Digital Twin Programme in partnership with DBT.

Each talk facilitated discussion from the audience, which was continued further at networking drinks sponsored by Informed Solutions.

Stay tuned for our next AGI Greater Manchester network event!
