Continual Professional Development

The AGI can support you, as you take the next steps in your professional development

What is Continuing Professional Development?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the practice of regularly developing and enhancing your professional skills, knowledge and abilities over the course of your career.

CPD is a proactive approach to personal learning and development that will ensure you stay current with the latest developments in your field, enable you to easily adapt to changes in the industry, and help you achieve your career goals.

The AGI strives to support you throughout your CPD journey, as you develop new skills and knowledge, broaden your professional network, and work to achieve (or maintain) a Chartership. We are in the process of developing a Members-Only CPD Resource page with guidance on a variety of CPD-related topics so watch this space!

What is CPD accreditation?

CPD accreditation is the process of certifying that an event or training course meets certain standards of quality and relevance for professionals looking to continue their education and development in their field. Many industries use CPD accreditation to ensure that professionals can accumulate CPD points by attending accredited events.

When an event is CPD accredited, it signifies that:

  • The content has been reviewed and meets industry standards.
  • Attendees will gain relevant skills, knowledge, or qualifications.
  • Participants can receive official CPD points that contribute to their professional learning goals or certification requirements.

If you are a Partner or Associate Member, the AGI can provide accreditation for your event or training course by awarding AGI CPD points.

Process for AGI CPD accreditation?

AGI CPD accreditation is available to Partner and Associate Members of the AGI. If you would like to have your event or training course accredited, please login to our membership page in order to access and complete our online form.

Your application will be reviewed by the AGI CPD Officer and CPD points will be allocated based on the length of the event or training course. In line with chartership organisations such as the RGS and CICES, the AGI will award one CPD point per hour up to a maximum of 5 points per day. The cost of accreditation is £5 per point.

If your application is approved, you will be issued with a Certificate of Accreditation. The AGI CPD logo and number of points will be displayed alongside your event listing on our website and you will also be able to use our CPD logo in your own communications. Accreditation should be renewed every 12 months from the date listed on the Certificate to ensure that any adjustments to course content or programme changes can be made.
